Ciragan Palace Hotel The Old Palace Lobby Reception Lobby A Bedroom A Suite Sultan's Suite Bosphorus View Restaurant Restaurant Interior Swimming pool Shoe Shine Hamam
This luxury class hotel is located on the European shores of the Bosphorus, was once the residence of the last Ottoman Sultans and it is pronounced Chiraan Palace.

The hotel is a monument to the legendary opulence of the Ottoman Empire. Whether you stay in the Palace itself or in the grand hotel built within its grounds, you will enjoy the kind of pampered lifestyle which was once the preserve of princes and potentates.
Built in wood at the end of the 16th century, it was rebuilt in marble for the Sultan Abdulaziz in 1857. The finest marble and mother-of-pearl were brought from all over the world for the new Ciragan Palace and construction was completed at a total cost of five million Ottoman gold liras. But Sultan Abdulaziz only lived here for a few months before pronouncing it to be too damp to stay in and moving out again.

In January of 1910 it was badly damaged by fire and remained abandoned until 1986 when it was restored to its former glory.
In 1946, the Parliament gave the palace, its out buildings and grounds to the Istanbul Municipality and it was used as a dumping ground for sand and other construction materials. It was also used as a swimming pool and was a football ground for the local team.

A number of stones and other original fragments from the palace were found still lying where they fell in the garden. These served as models for the master stone masons engaged to recreate the front. Like their ancestors a hundred years ago, these craftsmen worked the intricate stone latticework and marble colonnades by hand. When the outer walls were restored to their former state, work started on transforming the ancient building into one of the world's leading luxury hotels.

You may choose either a Bosphorus view room from which to watch the moon rise, or a park view room where you can sit in the cool Istanbul twilight and absorb yourself in an atmosphere of grace and elegance.

It consists of the hotel and the palace. The hotel consists of 304 rooms including 20 suites and the palace consists of 12 VIP suites and the Sultan's Suite.
